The reason for buying a used saddle, or shall we say “previously owned” saddle, is of course that it gives you the opportunity to buy a saddle of higher quality but in your price range. In fact you might actually make a better purchase if you choose to buy a well kept second hand saddle as you will be able to see how the leather have aged and what kind of quality it really is. Also you will see how the tree has set after a time of use. You might even be as lucky as to get hold of a saddle from someone that has had an impeccable seat and so molded the seat for you to just sink in to, and all of a sudden the slouching back is nothing but a memory!
